I have been transforming paper for more than 35 years, learning to hold a dialogue with the material. For me, art is a play of sensations: I deeply enjoy exploring the language of textures, on canvas through painting as much as in the layers of papier-mâché.
My story
My story began among canvases, brushes and colours. For decades, painting was the space where I learned to observe nature, textures and the beauty of the imperfect.
In time, that search led me to discover papier-mâché as a new way of creating: a material that let me turn those same sensations into objects that inhabit spaces and accompany everyday life.
Atiarte
Atiarte was born when I felt my papier-mâché pieces needed a home of their own. Its name gathers part of my identity: A for Astrid, T for Tadea, I for Ivirico. And “Arte” — art — because creating has always been my way of speaking to the world.
Atiarte is the meeting point of nature, craft and experimentation. Every piece is modelled by hand, honouring the organic forms and small imperfections that make each creation unique. More than decorative objects, they are pieces meant to bring calm, texture and a serene presence to a space.
Today we live between two worlds: colour that plays, and simplicity that connects. Though the forms may change, one thing remains intact: the intention to create objects with soul — handmade and full of identity.
A new beginning…
It doesn't mean erasing the past, but doing what I know best: turning life's fibres into something completely new. As an artisan, I know that to make a beautiful sheet of paper you sometimes have to tear up the old, soak it in water and shape the pulp with patience.
Cracks and changes of course don't destroy us; they give us that unique texture and resilience that only handmade things have. Today I embrace my blank canvas. The mess of the studio (and of life) always comes before beauty.
